Binney St and Jimmy Fund Way

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund have long been connected with baseball.  Featuring founder Sidney Farber, MD (regarded as the father of modern chemotherapy), and 12-year-old Einar Gustafson ("Jimmy"), one of his early patients, this sculpture reflects this historic relationship. The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community fundraising events.
